Matthew Austin Jordon grew up in the unique Victorian town of Redlands, California. During high school and through college he trained under Black Belt Magazine Hall of Fame Instructor Ray Dalke - competing as a member of team USA in the style of traditional "hard" style of Shotokan Karate used by adventurer Bear Grylls and action star Jean Claude Van Damme. Matt has successfully competed as a black belt in full-contact Kumite competitions in the US and Canada. While competing as an athlete, he also studied art and business in college and joined the creative make-up effects team led by make-up effects legend Tony Gardner at Alterinan Inc. and learned the professional trade of practical make-up effects - gaining experience in this specialized field while working on projects such as "There's Something About Mary" and "Spiderman". He also went on to produce animatronics and props for Disney Imagineering while working as a project leader for animatronics giant Garner Holt Productions. Over the years, Matt's worked closely with Tony Gardner for the Farrelly brothers, Josh Gordon & Will Speck, Sam Raimi, Jared Hess, John J. Kelly, Tibor Takacs, Avi Lerner, Steve Cannell, Stephen R. Monroe, Mike Mitchell and David Kirschner. Presently, Matt combines his athletic skills and knowledge of special effects to create unique characters as a SAG actor. He's been in heavy prosthetic makeup, animatronic and puppeted suits featuring pnumatics and mechanics, he's worn all sorts of contact lenses, been thrown around as a stuntman, done fight scenes, shoot outs, morph scenes, and has even been "electrocuted" on screen. Presently, Matt's acting coach is Wendy Girard - who is a Life Member of The Actors Studio, a Teaching Artist at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert and an affiliate of The Lincoln Center Institute of Perforiming Arts. With his many experiences and broad background, Matt is adaptable; he has a proven professional history in the practical special effects and he always enjoys his involvement in creative/ entrepreneurial projects. He is willing to try just about anything - always up for a challenge keeping a professional attitude through it all. His years of intense martial arts training as a black belt has refined his performance in interesting creature-suit and prosthetic make-up roles and have given him the ability to get through any physically-demanding shoot while maintaining a smile and sense of humor.Presently, Matt's working on the upcoming Jared Hess Directed sci-fi comedy called "Gentleman Broncos" as well as the Adam Sandler Comedy "Bedtime Stories".
