Derek Thomas Reese was a First Lieutenant with the 132nd S.O.C., operational specialty Tech-Com (aka The Four Horsemen). Reese was born 1996 and was one of four resistance agents sent by John Connor in 2027 to 2007 to secure finance and other resources and wait for Sarah and John Connor when they made the time jump from 1999 to 2007. He is the older brother of Kyle Reese and therefore John's paternal uncle. Like other Resistance fighters who had been captured by Skynet's forces, he has a bar-code branded on his right forearm. He is also in a relationship with Jesse Flores, a fellow resistance fighter from the future who also went back in time. Derek was shot in the head while attempting to rescue Catherine Weaver's daughter, Savannah. However, in the finale, when John goes to the future he sees Derek alive and well, though Derek is unaware of John's existence.
