With only four episodes left and just as we lost a beloved cast member, Nucky and Co. seem to be bringing the tension akin to that show about making meth. Kudos.
It's typical of Boardwalk Empire's fifth season that some material is spectacular, and some is outright bad. But I have to give the show credit for making the good so very good this time out.
For all his successes before and after Prohibition, Thompson's decision to become more than "half a gangster" has forced him into a role he can't quite master.
History has taught me not to underestimate the people who make Boardwalk Empire, no matter how bumpy and/or slow things might seem at a season'' midpoint. "Cuanto" was an excellent episode.
Having endured Bill Compton's numerous flashbacks throughout the final season of True Blood, I was worried the repeated looks back at Nucky's childhood would wear thin on me. Such has not been the case.
The emotional climax of Episode 4 packed little in terms of thrill or reveal, but really struck those of us who have spent five years with these characters.
