After the events of the first season, the group of survivor's take shelter on Victor Strand's boat, meanwhile, they encounter danger at sea. They later seeks shelter with a survivalist family; and Madison tries to uncover the family's true motives...
The lost at sea premise should lead to a fascinating and fresh season, but its season premiere was anchored by more of the same frustrating and questionable character logic.
The striking camerawork and offbeat location choices (boat, desert, hotel, etc) go a long way towards setting the show apart visually, though fans can rest easy that the gory moments are still as nasty and inventive as ever.
All of this is old news: We've seen people debate right and wrong, we've seen people make stupid mistakes, we've seen people trust strangers and get betrayed. We've seen it all in the early seasons of The Walking Dead.
Fear the Walking Dead is already doing a better job than the original of examining how civilization-rather than a small band of survivors-reacts to and evolves during the crisis.
Will Fear the Walking Dead simply become The Walking Dead: Left Coast? Thankfully - particularly given The Walking Dead's creatively bankrupt finale - no.
